What is a QR code? Originally used in advertising, QR codes can be found on everything from magazines to cracker boxes. QR stands for “Quick Response.” The idea is that you can use your smartphone, iPod or iPad to scan the QR code, much like a bar code, and instantly have access to extra “stuff” like interesting information about a product, or special offers or coupons. In your case, you will have information about your artwork that is not mentioned in the artist statement. What do you need to generate a QR code? To be able to read QR codes, you need to download a QR Reader app, such as Quick Scan. To create your own QR codes you will need to use a website that generates them. There are many free options. QR Code Generator is simple and straightforward. If you’d like something a bit fancier, QRStuff.com is nice. (You can also check out tech guru Kathy Schrock’s website for a huge list of QR code resources.) How to make a QR code: Generator Create an Audio QR code The Assignment Part I: 100 points Your goal is to create one audio QR code for one of your artworks. Your voice recording should be: A= 1:00-1:30 minutes B = 40-60 seconds C= 20-30 seconds D= 30 seconds or less F= No completed Choose a reflection that you've written and expand on it. Some students like the QR code to be linked to a video or web page. You can choose to do that if desired then have it automatically start reading. Your audio QR code should include:
Make a script for yourself and record yourself reading it. Then generate QR codes and link to the audio files. Print the codes (large). Test to make sure it works. IMPORTANT: Print out your QR code and give it to Mr. Hobbs by next week. Make sure that you print your first and last name on the front. Also, include the title of the artwork that you selected printed over your QR code. Assignment Part II: 50 points Next, add your audio file to your online portfolio. Create a button next to the artwork and upload the voice recording.
