Objective: Students will use hand building techniques to sculpt roses from clay, which will be bisque fired and painted.
Technique: The petals are prepared individually, rolled into a spiral form, and made to appear to bloom. A premade hole is applied at the bottom of the bud for the stem.
CONSTRUCTION REQUIREMENTS: 50 POINTS
Each student needs to create two rose buds
Each pedal must be individually hand sculpted and have 8-15 pedals total.
Each pedal must be wrapped around a curvy center pedal.
Make sure that some of the pedals are folded along the top so it appears real
Each pedal need to be firmly connected to each other (score and slip). Smooth it so no bottom seams are shown.
No cracks need to be shown
Add a hole at the bottom of the flower for the stem. (which will be added later)
Try your best to make it look as real as possible
HOW TO MAKE A CLAY ROSE
PAINTING THE FLOWER EXPECTATIONS
Use acrylic paint and paint the entire flower. This includes the inside, sides, and bottom.
Absolutely NO raw clay needs to be shown.
Limit your color pallet to only 3 colors.
Show blending from dark to light some place on your project.
Paint the stem (glue the stem to your flower using the adhesive)
Paint the flower using excellent craftsmanship, good quality, and excellent skill.
Remember to wash all brushes, wash out containers, wipe tables and sink area.
