The 'Your Choice Project" includes documenting your creative process. Your documentation should include 3 parts. These parts are:
1. Research (3 images) 2. Planning and sketching 3. Executing your project.
Step 1: Research: Choose an artist that inspires you. Find three artworks done by that artist and upload them into your portfolio under the Creative Process page. Include the title of the work and the medium. Include a short paragraph that answers the question: What is inspiring about at artist that you like or discovered? Explain how this artist connects to you and your own style?
Student Example:
STEP 2. Planning and Sketching: Next, create an original artwork inspired by that artist. Don’t copy the artist. Instead, find elements of that artist that you like and using those elements come up with your idea. Draw 2-3 thumbnail sketches of possible ideas of what you want to create. I’m not looking for detail just quick 10-15 min sketches. These sketches should be small about 5 inches x 5 in . give or take. Take pictures of them and upload them into your portfolio in the Creative Process page. Experiment with color, different mediums, styles, etc.. What works for you and what doesn't. Show your notes by your ideas.
Step 3. Executing: Once you have a plan of what you want to create START YOUR ARTWORK; You choose the medium; and subject and how big. Take at least 3 + images of your artwork as you work. Explore your creativity. Explore your color. Explore new mediums (if you dare), and explore different techniques. When you are finished with your final artwork answer these questions.
How did you communicate your message? What techniques did you use? What elements of art did you incorporate into your design to best express your idea?
What was the biggest challenge you encountered on the project?
How does this project tie together previous exercises and concepts from the class/past projects?
