Abstract Oil DesignProject 1: Organic Shape with Oil Pastels (100 points)
1. Divide the paper into a mixture of curvy lines, circles, and shapes. Have a combination of large, medium, and small shapes. Think of various ways that lines break up the shapes but still make the artwork balanced. The objective is to create more shapes in your drawing, like a giant puzzle. (Look at examples of Cubism for inspiration.) 2. In your drawing, focus on each individual shape you have created, and apply the entire range of value (from dark colors to light colors) in each shape using the oil pastels. Proceed from shape to shape, deciding which part should be the richest color and which should be the lightest color. Sometimes you may want to alternate from one shape to the next. You may also want to vary the direction of your shading inside your object from that outside your object in order to emphasize it. 3. Fill the entire paper with values. 4. Blend the oils using a wipe. Overlap colors on top of each other. 5. Try your best to put lighter colors next to your darkest color colors. |
